Onboarding and Training over 1,80,000 POSP with IPPB and its Insurers

India Post Payment Bank was set up under the Department of Post, Ministry of Communications in the year 2017. IPPB has expanded its strength across India covering post offices, through a network of 650 IPPB branches. IPPB leverages the vast postal network of nearly 1.55 lakh post offices and 3 lakh postal employees in every district, town and village of the country to provide door-step banking services and insurance products.

Challenges

For a large distributor like IPPB with over 3 lakh Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS), scalability can be achieved through a common platform that caters to the training needs of 1.8 lakh users with MATM devices. Due to the scale and diversity, the training and transaction platform for insurance had to be simple, easy to use and intuitive for adoption till the last mile.

Solution

  • Turtlefin’s TurtleAhead was launched with their GI POSP certification course and test to train the existing GDS to become an IRDAI certified point of sale person.

  • Turtlefin integrated their policy issuance platform to the MATM app, used by GDS for other banking services allowing GDS to issue policies and make online payments.

IPPB was looking for technology that empowers advisors in the most effective way to create a disruptive, best-in-class buying experience for customers.
Essentially, creating a market where Insurance selling will continue to be dictated by a band of advisors, who if well trained, can be leveraged to expand Govt of India’s financial inclusion program.

  2. The 2 hours long Multiple Choice test with 30 questions in Hindi and English can only be taken post the completion of the course to ensure compliance

  3. GI POSP downloadable certification post passing the test

  4. An LMS for non-POSP and non-insurance content from Turtlefin and IPPB to increase the adoption and engagement of users

Turtlefin went to create a user journey for policy issuance through the MATM app integrated with Turtlefin’s own platform.

  1. The MATM app lets the user search for a customer through Aadhar Number, Account Number or Phone Number with OTP, eye scan or fingerprint scan authentication.

  2. Turtlefin’s platform allows users to select a product and insurer from the chosen product type. 

  3. The user can enter all details of the customer and get a confirmation before creating the final quote. 

  4. The customer can make the payment through their account to buy the policy.
